9. CELL ORGANELLES: GOLGI
BODIES
Golgi is an
cell organelle found in
most eukaryotic cells.
It was first discovered
in 1898 by
Italin
physician Camillo golgi.
Structure ;
Golgi apparatus is
made up o f
stack of flat like
structure called cisternae.
The entire
golgi
body is in a
cup like curved
appearance because margins
of cisternae are
gently curved.
It is located
in the cytoplasm
next to the endoplasmic
reticulam and near
the cell nucleus.
Functions:
Glycoproteins and sphimgomyelin are
synthesized within the golgi .
it delivers packaging
the material and
deilivers it to
the different compartment
of the other
parts of the cells
such as mitochondria , chloroplast and
lysosomes .
